The 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Tournament gets underway with four matchups on Saturday. The field is down to 16 teams, including eight division winners and eight others who made it at the behest of the selection committee.

The men’s NCAA lacrosse tournament is here, with four matchups set for Saturday.


ESPNU will carry coverage of the tournament throughout the day on Saturday, beginning with the first match between seventh seed Penn State and Towson at noon ET. Coverage will continue with No. 6 John Hopkins vs. Duke at 2:30 p.m., No. 5 Denver vs. Air Force at 5 p.m., and No. 8 Albany vs. North Carolina in the evening at 7:30 p.m.
All of Saturday’s matches will also be streamed live online via WatchESPN. The online stream will require login credentials from a cable, satellite or other television provider.
Top-seeded Maryland doesn’t see the field until Sunday, when it faces Bryant in its opening match. The tournament will complete its opening round with four games on Sunday, proceed to the quarterfinals next weekend, the semifinals the weekend after that, and then the National Championship on May 29.
North Carolina is the defending champion. They were unseeded last year, but bested top-seeded Maryland in the final. They are unseeded again this year, and will face eighth seed Albany on Saturday.
