J.R. Smith added insult to injury.
That J.R. Smith shot at the buzzer gave the Cavaliers a 41-point halftime lead over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Why is that significant? Because the previous record for largest playoff halftime team was 40, by the Pistons against the Washington Bullets in 1987.
It looked like the Celtics would dodge that infamous honor when Kevin Love missed a wide-open corner 3. Instead, they go into the history books thanks to J.R. Smith’s miracle buzzer beater.
And this Celtics fan can only laugh.
