The official morning line odds for the 2017 Kentucky Derby were announced Wednesday at Churchill Downs, with Classic Empire made a 4-1 favorite to win the 143rd Run for the Roses. Always Dreaming and McCraken were set at 5-1, with Irish War Cry rounding out the top tier of contenders at 5-1.

Which horse should be the favorite, however, is a matter of opinion.

However, Matt Battaglia’s official morning line odds aren’t the only ones to be found. Our friends at OddsShark have created their own Kentucky Derby odds that look a bit different.
Handicapper Michael Dempsey gave his favorite to Always Dreaming at +400 (4/1 odds), with Classic Empire at +425 (17/4 odds). McCraken and Irish War Cry were both given +650 (13/2 odds).
Meanwhile at Bovada, the difference is split by placing both Always Dreaming and Classic Empire at 4/1 odds. Irish War Cry is at 13/2 and McCraken at 7/1 there.
