Utah Jazz point guard George Hill will not play in the team’s Game 2 matchup against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday due to left big toe soreness, the team announced.
George Hill out with big toe soreness for Game 2 vs. Warriors
Hill missed extended time in the regular season with a sprained left big toe.

Hill sprained the same toe in a Nov. 29 matchup against the Houston Rockets and subsequently missed 13 games recovering. His injury hurts a Jazz team already in over its head against a Warriors team with the league’s best record and two former MVP’s on the roster.
Hill found new life in Utah, averaging a career-best 16.9 points through 49 regular season games with the Jazz this season. He averaged similar numbers in Utah’s first-round series against the Clippers, but scored just seven points in 28 minutes against the Warriors in Game 1.
Hill enters free agency this summer after finishing the final year of his five-year, $40 million contract. In February, Hill and the Jazz failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension. He reportedly plans to test the free agency market in July.
