I built a NBA 2k17 team of players 34 and older to see if they’d make the playoffs

As a fan of NBA 2k, my favorite game mode is the fantasy draft in MyGM.

You get to pick 13 players and see how they’d potentially do on the court, whether they had your guidance or if you simulated the games.

One thing that I’ve always noticed is that teams are reluctant to draft most of the older players. It’s a reminder that these teams aren’t drafting for just that one season, they’re also drafting for the future.

I decided to draft a team that was made up of players who were either 34 years old or older. I picked the Cavs, got the 14th pick in a serpentine draft, and this is what I came up with.

These aren’t necessarily the best 13 players who are 34+, but rather the best team that I could draft.

(J. Johnson is Joe Johnson, not James Johnson, in case you were confused.)

I picked Pau Gasol in the first round, Wade in the second, and was lucky enough to snag Dirk Nowitzki in the third. I missed out on Vince Carter and Zach Randolph.

Time to start the season.

30 games in: 8-22 and Wade is pissed.

If you’re wondering why Wade is so mad, I may have ... told the media ... that he was on the trading block. Oops.

I didn’t say many nice things about the players to the media. Also, I wasn’t happy at the fact that Richard Jefferson kept complaining about playing time.

I did one nice thing during the whole sim.

Kyle wasn’t asking for much.

55 games in: 15-40 and everybody is irate.

Except for Andre Miller who’s thinking about retiring so he couldn’t care less lol.

82 games: 24-58 ... Worst record in the NBA.

I have no idea why Wade is so happy. I literally did nothing to try to help.

For those of you wondering, yes LeBron was on that Nets team. Must be nice.

Offseason:

The press hates me.

How have I not been fired.

Oh hell yeah! Time to rebuild with a new top talent and turn this franchise aro—

Free Agency:

I tried to attract some free agents to come to Cleveland, but I didn’t have enough money to lock in any deals. I also made Kevin Durant angry.

Start of Next Season:

Yeahhhhhhhhh that’s enough of that. Resigns.
