It’s been about a year and a half since Michigan State kicker Michael Geiger nailed a 41-yard field goal in the final seconds to knock off the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes during the 2015 season. After he made the field goal, Geiger’s windmill move became one of college football’s most unforgettable celebrations.
Michigan State kicker graduates while doing his signature windmill celebration
This was beautiful.

Over the weekend, Geiger brought his iconic celebration back to life, but this time is wasn’t done on the football field. Geiger graduated from Michigan State over the weekend, and he brought back the windmill as he walked across the stage to get his diploma.
“It was pure emotion, just happiness,” Geiger said of the celebration via Land of 10 last November. “It wasn’t premeditated. Sometimes you have in the back of your head, ‘maybe if I hit a game-winner I’ll have a celebration,’ but that was just all instincts.”
Geiger finished his Spartan career last season, wrapping up his tenure as a four-year starter. He departs MSU with five school records, including the most consecutive point-after attempts (98 in a row), the most PATs in a single-season (72 in 2014), the most PATs in a career (189), the most extra points in a single game (10 vs. Eastern Michigan in 2014), and the best field-goal percentage in a single season (94).
Very clever of Geiger to bring back the windmill one last time for his graduation, and congrats to the kicker!
