Sports! Video games! We’ll learn all about the combination of the two at EA’s E3 press conference on Saturday.

The video games industry will see a mountain of news delivered over the next week or so due to the E3 conference, the biggest showcase of what’s to come in the United States.

Kicking things off on Saturday will be EA, the company behind most of the biggest sports games in the world under the EA Sports brand, as they will host their yearly press conference ahead of all the other big announcements and the actual opening of the show floor.

Games are announced, detailed, and discussed during the press conferences, which have been live streamed online for the past several years. EA is up first on Saturday, with Microsoft and Bethesda on Sunday, and Ubisoft, Sony, and the PC Gaming Show on Monday.

All of the major press conferences will be covered over at Polygon.com, and live streams of those conferences will be available via Twitter right here.

EA has a slew of games coming out on the horizon, as they are one of the biggest publishers in the industry. Many of them are not sports games, and we’ll hear about the newest Star Wars Battlefront and perhaps the unknown Bioware title. But what we care about here at SB Nation is the sports.

That means the latest installments in the FIFA, NHL, Madden, and NBA Live franchises. The latter is particularly notable given EA’s struggles in making a functional NBA game in recent years. Their games have been repeatedly outpaced by the popular 2K series of basketball games, resulting in poor sales and even multiple cancelled games for EA.

But NBA Live is back, or at least that’s what they say. They should have a big feature on the game on Saturday.

Madden will be a big one. Madden NFL 18 is coming out this year and EA is introducing a story mode to the fray, similar to the one included in FIFA a year ago. It’s also the first year in which Madden NFL incorporates the Frostbite engine, and technically it should be a much better game.

FIFA 18 will also have a story mode, a sequel to “The Journey,” the story mode from last year’s game. It will also be the second game on the Frostbite engine, and a gameplay reveal should take place.

Finally, there’s UFC 3, the next game for the mixed martial arts promotion. That game is due later this year and there should be a whole lot of talk about it on Saturday. For more info on EA’s conference, you can check out Polygon’s predictions here.

A full look at the E3 press conference streaming schedule can be found here. Following their press conference, EA will hold their EA Play event, featuring more gameplay, interviews, and other good stuff. That will also be streamed on Twitter.
