Sidney Crosby says Peyton Manning texted him congratulations after Stanley Cup win

From one legend to another.

Sidney Crosby’s phone has presumably been blowing up with congratulatory texts and calls since he won his third Stanley Cup last week. Out of all of them, Crosby mentioned one that stood out Thursday to reporters: A message from NFL legend Peyton Manning.

Manning knows a little something about winning. The 17-year NFL quarterback was a five-time MVP, 14-time Pro Bowler, seven-time first-team All-Pro, and two-time Super Bowl champion. He retired after a lengthy career with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos concluded with him quarterbacking the latter to a championship in 2015.

But now Crosby, a similarly dominant athlete in his own sport, can say that he’s won more titles than Manning. Who knows how much Manning actually follows hockey, but he knew enough to reach out to the best player in the game after one of his greatest moments. (How did Manning get Crosby’s number? I don’t know, but there are perks to being an exceptionally wealthy, influential celebrity.)

Did they talk about chicken parm? We cannot confirm, but it seems possible.
