Saturday’s minor league matchup between the Durham Bulls and Charlotte Knights was full of strange occurrences. Let’s go over them, shall we?

The Bulls and the Knights had a strange game.

The Bulls hosted the game, which began with a thunderstorm. That rain cut batting practice short and forced a rain delay. Fortunately, the field was ready only 30 minutes after the game was supposed to begin.
Then, it turns out the thunderstorm knocked out the power to the field, including the PA system, so the game couldn’t start after all. Fans were confused, however, because there was just no way to announce what had happened.
Local police had to come to the field and use the PA systems in their cars to explain what had happened. Here they are!
After all that effort, the power came on right after, because of course it did.
Once the game started, nearly an hour and a half after the scheduled time, things continued in the same vein.
In the fourth inning, literally every single Durham batter scored. Talk about a pleasant home game.
Needless to say, the Bulls ended up winning this one.
Things didn’t go quite as well for Bulls pitcher Brent Honeywell, who had a bug fly into his eye during the fifth inning. The game came to a stop while a trainer had to go to the mound to give him some eye drops.
Baseball America notes, though, that this wasn’t even the weirdest thing to happen to Honeywell. Once, he found an eight-foot alligator in the dugout. Crazy that the alligator didn’t trouble him, but he was nearly taken out by a fly.
Ahh, nothing like summer in North Carolina.
