Russell Westbrook thanked everyone during his MVP acceptance speech, even the media

What a change!

Russell Westbrook had a lot of people to thank when during his MVP award acceptance speech. Perhaps one of the most notable on his list was “the media,” who were responsible for voting for him to win this award.

Considering Westbrook’s long history of strange interactions with reporters, even months ago this comment would have seemed strange.

Russ has gone off on reporters more than a few times in postgame conferences.

Through the years, he’s laughed in reporters faces, dodged questions, and told reporters, “I just don’t like you.”

Most recently, he refused to let Steven Adams answer a question about the Thunder’s gameplay without Russ.

“Next question.”

“Next question.”

“Next question.”

“Next question.”

“Next question.”

He turned that around, though, by thanking the media during his speech.
