Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard and New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher crashed a car while driving with his girlfriend in Sherman Oaks, Calif. on Sunday. According to TMZ Sports, that car was registered to Matt Barnes, the ex-husband to Fisher’s girlfriend, Gloria Govan.

Fisher, who was driving with Barnes’ ex-wife, wrecked the 2015 Escalade he left specifically “for the kids.”

Barnes has two children with Govan and gave her the Escalade specifically “for the kids,” according to TMZ.
Fisher was driving a 2015 Cadillac Escalade a little after 3 a.m. PT Sunday morning when he allowed the car to veer right onto the shoulder, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The car then completely crossed over the shoulder and flipped over the guardrail, causing the vehicle to turn onto its roof and block oncoming traffic in two lanes.
Neither Govan nor Fisher sustained noteworthy injuries in the accident. Fisher was later arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Fisher and Barnes have had a cold relationship for years.
Two summers ago, Barnes found Fisher — who was supposed to be leading Knicks training camp — at Govan’s California home. The two then got into a well-documented scuffle, one that prompted Barnes to admit to Bleacher Report “I’ve never been that angry in my life.”
Fisher was fired midway into the 2015-16 season after posting a 23-31 record and losing nine of 10 games approaching the All-Star break. Even though he finished his time as Knicks coach with a 40-96 record, some believe his relationship with another player’s ex-wife played a role in his dismissal.
