Pacquiao vs. Horn: Start time, TV channel for boxing’s Battle of Brisbane

Manny Pacquiao is back and he’s got an undefeated prospect in Jeff Horn to deal with, this time on ESPN in the United States.

Manny Pacquiao will fight on basic cable in the United States for the very first time on Saturday, as he defends his WBO welterweight championship against Jeff Horn from Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

ESPN will have coverage of the fight, which is also the first Pacquiao fight to air outside of pay-per-view in the United States since his knockout win of Hector Velazquez in September 2005. Pacquiao vs. Horn takes place in the early afternoon in Australia, which comes out to a start time of 9 p.m. ET for Saturday’s card.

Pacquiao’s fight should come approximately two and a half hours after the start of the card, which will also be available streamed online via WatchESPN and the ESPN app on various devices.

Since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015, Pacquiao has picked up quality wins over Timothy Bradley and Jessie Vargas. He has been clear he wants another shot at Mayweather, who will soon be boxing Conor McGregor in August, despite the latter being a mixed martial arts fighter.

It’s unclear if a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather 2 fight could happen on the heels of Pacquiao beating someone like Horn, but it’s what Pacquiao is angling for. Horn, a hometown favorite for Saturday’s card, will not be a pushover, however.

Horn is 16-0-1 and has won his last three fights via stoppage. Still, this will be a massive step up in competition for him and he’ll have his hands full with someone of Pacquiao’s skill level. It will be interesting to see if Horn tries to score a stoppage early, because Pacquiao has been a points fighter in the latter years of his career.

Pacquiao’s last knockout came in 2009, so he’s a long way from putting someone down. Still, Pacquiao is the heavy favorite for Saturday’s fight.

The televised portion of Saturday’s card will begin with a middleweight contest between Shane Mosley Jr. and Davis Touissaint. Michael Conlan and Jarrett Owen will then face each other, while the co-feature promises an exciting super flyweight title bout between Jewin Ancajas and Teiro Kinoshita.

Below is what you need to know to watch the action and below that is the full fight card for ESPN’s broadcast.
