The X Games in Minneapolis got underway Thursday, and three gold medals were given out in the BMX vert, skateboard vert, and Harley-Davidson Flat Track race.
X Games 2017 results: Vince Byron, Moto Shibata take gold on Day 1
The X Games got started on Thursday, and we have the results from the action.


Vince Byron was in second place going into his second run in the BMX vert competition. He ended up with an incredible run and took the lead from Jamie Bestwick, who had a 92.66 after his run. Byron earned a 93.00 even for the gold medal, his 15th X Games BMX gold medal.
Bestwick took silver, and Coco Zurita managed to take home bronze with a score of 88.00 after his two runs.
The men’s skateboard vert competition was one of the most exciting in a long time. Jimmy Wilkins had an incredible run filled with technical spins and body varials. He ended with a score of 89.00, but Moto Shibata of Japan set up a huge finish with a front foot lean impossible and earned a 90.00 from the judges to take the gold medal.
Mitchie Brusco was also close, but he settled for bronze in the event with a score of 88.66.
In the finals of the Harley-Davidson Flat Track race, Sammy Halbert took gold with a time of 6:26.085. He finished well clear of Jared Mees, who snagged silver with 6:38.857. Finally, Brad Baker managed the bronze medal with a time of 6:41.828, barely a second ahead of the two people behind him.
The action will continue on Friday and throughout the weekend.
