Bears linebacker Jerrell Freeman saved a man from choking on brisket
Freeman decided to eat a brisket sandwich while waiting on his delayed flight. He probably didn’t expect to save someone’s life in the process.

On Sunday, July 23, Freeman’s flight to Chicago was delayed, so he took the time to eat a brisket sandwich he ordered from the airport’s Salt Lick Taco Bar. A few moments later, he saw Marcus Ryan choking on some brisket at a nearby table.
Ryan was eating brisket and quickly rose to his feet, in a story recounted to the Chicago Tribune. He had a concerned look on his face. Ryan was choking.
Freeman decided to thrust himself into the situation and apply the Heimlich himself. He performed the maneuver two times.
“And when I put him down the second time, his eyes got big. He was like, ‘Oh, my god! I think you just saved my life, man!’ It was crazy,” Freeman said.
Freeman had never applied the Heimlich maneuver before. He said his mother is a nurse, and she always talked about it. So Freeman used the information he gathered from his mother and put it to good use.
Later, Freeman said Ryan continued to eat his brisket.
“Crazy,” Freeman said. “Hey, I guess that was some good brisket. He wasn’t about to let that go to waste. You can’t get between a man and his brisket. I get it.”
