Vince Carter and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The 40-year-old Carter is the oldest active player in the league, but he made it clear after last season that he wasn’t planning on retiring.

Instead, Carter will join Sacramento making more money than he likely could have gotten from anyone else, given the Kings’ huge amount of cap space entering this summer.
Carter spent his last three seasons in Memphis after a three-year stint in Dallas. His numbers have understandably declined, but last year was his best as a Grizzly, averaging eight points and nearly two assists per game while hitting 38 percent of his three-pointers. He also played (73) and started (15) more games than he did in the previous two Memphis seasons.
Many thought that Carter might join a title contender, allowing him to be a bench piece and role player, but Carter instead is joining a Sacramento Kings team that is a mixture of young and old. Earlier this week, the Kings signed Zach Randolph for a two-year deal and George Hill to a three-year deal.
Either way, we can only hope that Carter plays forever.
