Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor during the 10th round of their boxing match on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Referee Robert Byrd stopped the fight as Mayweather pummeled McGregor, ending the most hyped bout in years prematurely.

The fight didn’t go the distance after all.
Mayweather moved to 50-0 as a professional. McGregor, a mixed martial artist, took a hard-fought loss in the first boxing match of his career.
Both fighters made bold claims about their ability to crush the other. In the days leading up to the fight, Mayweather guaranteed he’d knock out McGregor.
The moment Mayweather finished off McGregor:
“One hundred percent, it will not go the distance,” Mayweather told ESPN. “One hundred percent chance this fight won’t go the distance.”
McGregor said about an hour before the fight that he believed he’d knock out Mayweather sometime in the early going. The fight turned out to be generally competitive, with McGregor dictating the pace in the first couple of rounds. He’d been consistent that he’d KO Mayweather, though his predicted timeline changed over time.
Mayweather emerged as the bout wore on, though, taking back more and more control from his Irish opponent. The crowd at Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena became more boisterous by the sixth round, and it reached a crescendo as Mayweather got better.
Mayweather appeared to smell blood. The famously defensive tactician became more aggressive during this bout, approaching and swinging at McGregor with the intent of landing enormous blows. Mayweather didn’t have the look of a boxer who wanted to wait for a judge’s decision. And in the end, he made sure he didn’t.
