Battles in the trenches are common places for fights in football practices, but things got out of control for Seattle Seahawks linemen Thursday.

When the dust cleared from one big scrap, third-year defensive end Frank Clark was tossed from practice and second-year offensive lineman Germain Ifedi was left lying on the turf on his back with blood coming from his mouth.

The fight reportedly started when defensive tackle Rodney Coe and offensive lineman Will Pericak got in a scuffle during a pass-rushing drill.

Things escalated, from there and Clark punched Ifedi during the scrum that followed.

Video captured from the crowd shows the fight, but it’s difficult to see the punch that dropped Ifedi:

Clark got in a fight at camp with offensive lineman Luke Joeckel two days ago and had a fight with defensive lineman Jarran Reed on the sideline in Week 17.

Fights aren’t uncommon for the Seahawks, who had plenty of sideline scraps in 2016. But Pete Carroll was disappointed with the events at practice Thursday:

Ifedi didn’t practice Friday, but was back on the field without any apparent facial injuries. Clark was absent and Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard told reporters it was part of his punishment for the fight.

The Seahawks are 10 days away from opening their preseason schedule against the Los Angeles Chargers. Clark better relax soon so the Seattle offensive line can make it there in one piece.
