The last time we checked on Joey Votto, he was trying to throw baseballs out of Wrigley Field to spite Cubs fans. This is a worthwhile goal, and he was described as a “hero” for his efforts.
Joey Votto hit a home run and gave his jersey and bat to a kid
Joey Votto is both lawful evil and chaotic good, and he’s always the best.

This is even better, however. After hitting a home run against the Mets, Votto took the time to seek out a kid behind home plate and give him his jersey and bat.
Joey Votto might be a wrestling heel when he wants to be, but he’s also a gentle beast who can be as sweet as maple syrup. And right now in Cincinnati, there’s a kid who can’t stop smiling because of him. Good work, Mr. Votto*.
* Although it wouldn’t not be funny if he tried to throw the jersey and bat out of the stadium, this was clearly the best choice for everybody involved.
