Steph and Ayesha Curry fire back on Twitter at those who doubted his golf game

The Currys united to trash those who didn’t think Steph would be a success in his golf debut.

Stephen Curry made his golf debut in the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae on Thursday. Curry is a two-time NBA MVP and one of the best shooters to touch a basketball court. What does he know about a golf course? In the days leading up to his first swing, Twitter wasn’t having it at all:

Even we counted him out to start the day.

But just like his game on the court, Steph hooped all over the course, too. Curry finished a 4-over 74 in Round 1. That tied for 146th place out of 156 golfers, but for a guy whose primary focus is a different sport in itself, that’s not too shabby at all.

Curry’s first round was so impressive, he swayed pro golfer Steve Wheatcroft, who felt there was “no chance in hell” the basketball star broke a score of 76:

And Ayesha Curry, of course, added her own touch. Steph was able to succeed because he believed in himself:

Curry’s Thursday play was so impressive, pro golfers came out from the cut to applaud him on Twitter:

Curry’s former teammate Kent Bazemore, now with the Hawks, also chimed in:

The Ellie Mae Classic wasn’t televised, nor was there a live stream to watch online. But after the hype that surrounded Curry’s first go-round, they may want to rethink their broadcast strategy moving forward.
