Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry may face battery charges, depending on the outcome of a police investigation into an alleged incident between Landry and his girlfriend earlier this year. The alleged incident took place in Fort Lauderdale, according to Andy Slater of SlaterScoops.com.

Fort Lauderdale police decided to send the case to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office for investigation. The woman is not cooperating with police in the battery investigation, according to Slater.

The police report obtained by Slater claims that Landry used his “hands, fist, feet, and teeth” as weapons.

Landry and his girlfriend, Estrella Cerqueira, currently have a paternity case pending in Broward County. Cerqueira released a statement Monday, denying that Landry had been violent with her.

Head coach Adam Gase said after Monday’s practice that the team is aware of the investigation, according to the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero.

A decision on charges against Jarvis is not expected to come this week.

Landry was the Dolphins’ leading receiver in 2016 with 1,136 yards and four touchdowns. He still could face a suspension from the league for violating its personal conduct policy, even if police decide against bringing charges against him.
