Over a month after he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jimmy Butler took several dozen Chicago Bulls staffers to a group dinner, according to The Chicago Tribune. About 35 staffers, including behind-the-scenes salespeople, media relations officials, and production team members, enjoyed a meal at a new sushi restaurant called Katana on Sunday — on Butler’s dime.

Butler treated his old co-workers to sushi, because he’s just a good person.

Butler wanted to “say goodbye and thank you,” according to someone familiar with his plans, via The Chicago Tribune.
Butler, an all-star forward in town for Dwyane Wade’s youth camp, was dealt against his will this summer, traded in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the first-round pick that became Lauri Markkanen. He averaged 24 points, six rebounds, and 5.5 assists for the Bulls last season and maintained that he wanted to stay and win in Chicago.
But management never bought into Butler as the franchise player for the future and moved on this summer. Regardless of his feelings toward the front office, the ex-Bull showed love by taking his old co-workers out for a dinner while in town. It added onto a message he posted on Instagram after learning he’d been traded on draft day.
Butler has a fresh start with a familiar face in Tom Thibodeau as he starts Part 2 of his basketball career in Minnesota. And no matter how the crowd reacts to him when he makes his debut at the United Center as an opponent, he’ll at least have 35 people cheering him on.
