The Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Miami Dolphins will wear a helmet decal named “One Florida” to express support and solidarity in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The decal is an outline of the state.

Florida teams will express unity for the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

Why is this important?
Hurricane Irma wiped out a great portion of Florida. Families had to evacuate the state, homes were destroyed, and some people were injured because of the horrific storm. The Category 5 storm affected the NFL’s schedule as well, as the league had to postpone the Buccaneers-Dolphins Week 1 matchup to Week 11. The game was originally scheduled to take place in Miami. The Buccaneers and Dolphins will have to play 16 consecutive games without a bye week.
What does this mean?
Indeed, the NFL is doing whatever it takes to showcase support for people affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Hurricane Harvey ravaged southeast Texas, including much of Houston, leaving the city in shambles. Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt kickstarted a Hurricane Harvey relief fundraiser, which closed at $37.1 million.
Watt’s fundraiser received donations from people like Ellen DeGeneres, Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk, Chris Paul, Drake, Jimmy Fallon, and many more. Now, the NFL wants the citizens of Florida to know that it cares about the aftermath of Irma.
