Jay Cutler is making his debut with the Miami Dolphins and so far the gameplan has been pretty conservative. The former Broncos and Bears quarterback has a reputation for being a gunslinger, but he mostly stuck to short, efficient passing in the first half against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Jay Cutler threw 1 of the worst Hail Mary tries ever, but it may have been by design
Whether this was intentional or not, this is a pretty hilarious way to end a half.

But with two seconds left in the half, Cutler let it rip down the field and ... yikes.
There’s two possibilities here:
A) Cutler’s arm isn’t what it used to be and the 34-year-old quarterback couldn’t control a heave downfield.
B) This wasn’t a Hail Mary at all, and was just a way to wind out the final two seconds of the half without giving the Chargers a chance of their own.
I’m leaning toward the second possibility, considering the receiver running down the right sideline turned to run off the field without even tracking the ball.
Of course, it wouldn’t take too long for the receiver to take a quick glance over his shoulder and realize right away that he wouldn’t have a chance at hauling in the pass. Either way, hurling the ball so far out of bounds that it almost hits a cheerleader is a pretty fun way to end a half.
