Seahawks finally scored a TD and it was enough to beat the 49ers

Seattle’s offense didn’t look good, but at least it won.

The Seahawks finally scored their first touchdown of the 2017 season in the fourth quarter of Seattle’s 12-9 win over the 49ers. But the win can’t cover up the fact that Seattle’s offense has some glaring issues.

The offensive line continues to be a problem for the Seahawks. Seattle allowed three sacks on Russell Wilson, who only completed 59 percent of his passes for 198 yards and a touchdown. He added 34 yards on the ground.

And even though Seattle finally got into the end zone on a 9-yard Wilson pass to Paul Richardson, Blair Walsh missed the extra point.

Seattle couldn’t get into a rhythm offensively, and it looked hapless for the second week in a row. The one bright spot offensively was running back Chris Carson. He racked up 93 yards on the ground. Carson was especially effective late in the game when the 49ers defense was wearing down.

Still, despite the pressure Wilson was under and how inaccurate he was throughout the game, Pete Carroll stuck with the pass. Wilson threw the ball 39 times, and the Seahawks didn’t shift to a hurry-up offense until the fourth quarter.

The 49ers didn’t look much better offensively. Brian Hoyer finished with just 99 passing yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. Carlos Hyde did all he could, with 124 yards on 15 carries. But it wasn’t enough for the Niners to prevail.

Through two weeks of the season, one thing is for certain: The NFC West is shaping up to be one of the league’s weaker divisions.
