Chargers open tenure in new home with another heartbreaking loss

The Chargers have an amazing propensity for blowing games.

The Chargers lost nine games by seven points or less in 2016 and have already dropped two in the same fashion to start 2017.

Heartbreaking losses have become synonymous with the franchise and so another one to the Miami Dolphins in Week 2 — this time a 19-17 defeat — to open their time in the StubHub Center was perfectly fitting for the team.

The Chargers took the lead in the second quarter and didn’t fall behind until the Dolphins went ahead with 1:10 left in the game. Los Angeles responded on the next drive with large chunks of yardage on the first few plays and set up a potential game-winning field goal attempt.

But again Younghoe Koo’s attempt to save the Chargers in the final seconds of the game was no good. While his try in Week 1 was blocked, his 44-yard attempt against the Dolphins was just pushed wide right.

The Chargers finished 5-11 in their final season in San Diego, but somehow managed to blow a fourth-quarter lead in seven of those 11 losses. While the team didn’t have a lead in Week 1 against the Broncos at any point, the Chargers rallied and had a chance to tie.

Things just never seem to go right for the Chargers in crunch time.
