Cleveland Browns receiver Corey Coleman suffered a broken right hand against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 and will miss significant time, Hue Jackson announced on Monday. Coleman injured the same hand last year, and missed six games without having surgery.
Corey Coleman placed on IR after breaking his hand again
Coleman, a 2016 first-rounder, also missed six games last season

On Tuesday, the Browns placed Coleman on injured reserve, who can return after eight weeks:
What happened? With 13:15 left in the Browns-Ravens matchup, Coleman left the field after colliding with cornerback Marlon Humphrey. Both men were trying to make a play on the ball, but the pass fell incomplete. Coleman landed hard on his right hand, which is the same hand he broke in 2016. He was in serious pain and held his right hand close to his body.
Coleman had an X-Ray on his hand after the Ravens’ 24-10 victory. The Browns never divulged any information concerning the injury, but they said Coleman will go though more tests on Monday.
According to ESPN.com’s Pat McManamon, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Coleman had his hand heavily wrapped when he left the locker room. Coleman went through more tests on Monday, and the results confirmed that he broke his right hand once again.
What does this mean for Coleman? Coleman, a 2016 first-round draft pick, will miss a significant amount of games for the second time in his career. He sat out for six games in his rookie campaign after breaking his right hand. Now, he’ll miss more time after sustaining the same injury to the same hand. Coleman has 39 receptions to go along with 475 yards and four scores in his career.
What does this mean for the Browns? Cleveland and rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer will miss Coleman’s speed on the perimeter. The Browns did sign receiver Kenny Britt in the offseason, but he’s struggling with drops and creating separation.
The Browns already have a lack of fire power on offense, and Coleman’s injury makes matters worse. Cleveland will now have to depend on Britt, Rashard Higgins, and Ricardo Louis to step up their play.
