Stephen Curry out 2nd straight game with sprained ankle

Stephen Curry will not play in the Warriors’ Friday night matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes. He will be held out a second straight game due to a sprained right ankle, re-aggravating an injury he recently returned from.

Curry sustained the injury during a shootaround Wednesday morning when he slipped on the court and headed to the locker room for treatment, according to NBC Sports’ Monte Poole. He did not complete his fairly intricate shootaround routine and did not play against the Clippers that night.

This is a nagging injury for the two-time league MVP, who returned Dec. 30 from spraining the same ankle and averaged 35.2 points on 57 percent shooting in the five games since. It also puts a damper on a Wednesday night that was supposed to feature both Curry and Kevin Durant, who missed Golden State’s last three games with a strained right calf.

Curry has a history battling ankle injuries that put his career on hold early on. After a few healthy seasons, those ankle injury woes have revisited Curry this season. It does not appear this is a serious injury, but there is some concern given it is yet another blow to the same ankle.
