Kevin Durant became the second-youngest NBA player to score 20,000 points in his career, hitting the figure with a long two-point jumper in the first half against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. Durant is 29 years and 103 days old — only LeBron James, at 28 years and 17 days, reached that milestone quicker than him.

Here’s the shot on which Durant passed the 20,000 points plateau.

Warriors fans gave him an extended standing ovation for his accomplishment.

Three other NBA players — Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain, and Michael Jordan — have reached 20,000 points before the age of 30, but all did it later in their 29th year than Durant, whose birthday is Sept. 29. Durant entered the league when he was 19 and has averaged more than 25 points in all but his rookie season, where he put up 20.3 points per game. Durant has also led the league in scoring four times and twice averaged more than 30 points in a season.

This year, Durant is averaging 25.9 points per game for the Warriors on 50.1 percent shooting from the floor and 39.0 percent from behind the arc.

That first half against Los Angeles couldn’t have been a clearer display of his abilities as a scorer, with Durant dropping 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting, along with three made triples in as many attempts. Certainly, Durant will go down as one of the greatest pure scorers in NBA history, if not the best ever. (He’s already the most efficient.)

Like, how do you defend someone who can do this?

That said, Durant’s lost 2014-15 season — he played only 27 games due to a foot injury — may hurt him in the chase for the most points ever. After all, the 33-year-old LeBron James is already approaching 30,000 points and reached the 20,000 points plateau more than a year earlier than Durant.

Regardless, this is obviously still an incredible accomplishment and testament to Durant.
