It’s been a while — too long! -- since we last gathered to talk about hoops, so we brought the gang back together to talk about some of the biggest stories in the NBA these days. Chief among them: The continued intrigue that stems from the summer’s blockbuster Kyrie Irving-Isaiah Thomas trade.

SB Nation’s Zito Madu and friend of the pod Alex Rubenstein jump on to chat about the following topics:

  • Isaiah Thomas returning for the Cavs. How does he look? How will he fit in with the Cavaliers’ roster? Do we find his ongoing honesty about the summer trade endearing or frustrating?
  • We dive deep into Jackie MacMullan’s blockbuster story about Kyrie’s departure from Cleveland. Could all of this have been solved with just a little more communication?
  • A quick interlude for a new segment called Save it for the Pod, where Alex gives a hot take for us to argue about.
  • DeMar DeRozan is balling out for the Raptors. Does this mean that the ongoing conversation about how he shoots too many mid-range jumpers was dumb? We go deep on analytics, aesthetics, and more.
  • Are the Raptors good enough to compete with the Cavaliers and Celtics in the playoffs, or is this just same ol’ same ol’?
  • Back to more Kyrie talk, because we can’t get enough.
  • Ben ends the show by complaining about Marcus Smart. It’s glorious.
