Carmelo Anthony never stops cursing on rebounds

If you go up for a rebound with Melo, you best be ready.

On Thursday, Carmelo Anthony made rounds on social media for cursing like a sailor after Russell Westbrook poured cold water on him during a post-game interview.

Here, I present to you Carmelo Anthony: serial swearer.

Here’s Anthony also telling Westbrook to “get the f*** outta here” while grabbing a board:

You can watch an entire YouTube compilation of Melo cursing on rebounds here.

Melo’s potty mouth isn’t anything new. He’s been cursing since his earlier years in both New York and Denver. Anthony attributes his vulgarity on the boards to self-motivation:

“I’ve been doing it for a long time,” Anthony said, via The Norman Transcript’s Fred Katz. “I think now, just coming with the whole mindset thing and focus and that motivation to want to get back on the rebound tip, and being aggressive on the glass. Just kind of motivating myself. It’s a mind game I kind of play with myself to go out and play and get some rebounds.”

Anthony has never been known as a master rebounder, but he’s no scrub on the glass, either. Since he entered the league in 2003, only 24 players have recorded 6,000 or more rebounds, according to Basketball-Reference. Melo ranks 19th on that list at 6,656 boards, ahead of Andrew Bogut, Paul Millsap, David West, Lamar Odom and Josh Smith.

“I love rebounding. Even though my numbers are down, I love rebounding the basketball,” Anthony continued. “It’s actually fun playing with somebody like [Steven Adams] who loves to rebound. Russ, who steals rebounds. It makes it fun for me to go out there and challenge myself to rebound the basketball.”

Anthony is 344 rebounds away from cracking 7,000 boards in his career. He’d need to average 7.8 rebounds per game through Oklahoma City’s next remaining 44 games to reach that mark. Melo is currently averaging 5.9 rebounds per game in his first season with the Thunder. Westbrook is averaging 9.6.

So if Melo wants to reach the 7K club, he might need to yell “get the f*** outta here Russ” while cleaning the glass more often.
