Stanford-USC gave us what might be the most ridiculous buzzer beater of 2018

A 55-foot buzzer beater? C’mon now!

This college basketball finish is already the front-runner for the best we’ll see in all of 2018. In a tight game between USC and Stanford, the two teams traded go-ahead buckets with seconds remaining, the latter of which came on a half-court buzzer beater.

The player responsible for the buzzer beater is Daejon Davis, a freshman guard who had only six points before nailing that shot from about 55 feet away. (He did have five rebounds and six assists, and seven of his nine points came in the final five minutes.) But it has been a good 2018 for Davis, who also recorded 22 points in a double-overtime win against UCLA on Thursday.

Here’s another look at his sensational shot.

Apologies to Jordan McLaughlin, the USC guard who nailed the tough layup on the previous play that would have been the game winner in almost any other circumstance. But still — what a finish.
