Rae Carruth was released from prison on Monday after serving 18 years for conspiring in the murder of his girlfriend Cherica Adams, and attempt to kill his unborn son. It took less than a day before NFLShop.com had to ban the sale of custom jerseys with his name.
NFL bans sale of custom Rae Carruth jerseys
The jersey joins O.J. Simpson and Aaron Hernandez on the ban list.

Attempts to enter the jersey as a custom are now met with an immediate warning that reads “We are unable to customize this item with the text you have entered. Please try a different entry.” It’s the same safeguard the site has put in place to block Aaron Hernandez, O.J. Simpson and “Ron Mexico” jerseys — as well as those created with swear words, or hate terms.
It hasn’t been uncommon over the years to see Carruth jerseys at Panthers home games at Bank of America Stadium, but they’re few and far between. Fans who have worn the jersey are often chided or given looks from sensible fans for doing so.
