Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez combined to hit 75 home runs during the MLB regular season, but when the Boston Red Sox needed game-changing at-bats during the World Series, they came from an unlikely hero: Steve Pearce.
The World Series belonged to MVP Steve Pearce, now known as M-V-Pearce
He may not have been the hero Red Sox fans expected, but Pearce came up huge in Games 4 and 5. Now, his heroics are commemorated in a T-shirt.

Pearce, who started the season with the Toronto Blue Jays and was acquired in late June, hit three home runs and knocked in eight RBIs in five games against the Dodgers.
With his two home runs in Game 5, Pearce also became just the third player 35 or older —after Babe Ruth (!) and Ted Kluszewski — to have a multi-homer World Series game. Not bad company.
He may not have been the hero Boston fans expected, but Steve Pearce is officially a Red Sox legend. After hitting three home runs in the World Series to help Boston clinch its fourth title in 15 years, M-V-Pearce has etched his place in Red Sox history.
During the course of his 12-year career, Pearce has played for seven different teams, including all five AL East teams. After his trade to the Red Sox, the 35-year-old hit .279 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs in 50 games.
With the firepower across the Red Sox’s roster, Pearce seemed like an unlikely candidate to win MVP honors at the start of the World Series, but the journeyman came up huge with crucial hits in Games 4 and 5.
Once again, Red Sox Nation reigns over the baseball world.
