Steve Pearce, an unlikely postseason hero for the Red Sox on the way to a World Series championship, was named World Series MVP after Boston took Game 5 and the series on Sunday night.
Steve Pearce wins World Series MVP
He hit three home runs in the World Series to propel Boston to a championship.

Pearce hit three home runs in five games against the Dodgers and drove in eight runs. The 35 year old, who was acquired from the Blue Jays at the trade deadline and hit .279 with seven home runs in 50 games with the Red Sox, picked up the slack at the plate as the top of the lineup disappeared for most of the series. He is the only player 35 or older besides Babe Ruth and Ted Kluszewski to have a multi-homer World Series game, hitting two in the clinching game.
He also had four walks and no strikeouts in the series. It would have been just as easy to name Nathan Eovaldi, David Price, or Joe Kelly MVP but Pearce is a worthy recipient of the award.
Pearce did comment on how heavy the trophy was after lifting it in celebration. Professional athletes, they really are just like us.
