It’s not every day in the NFL that you wind up playing a team you just traded a beloved player to, but that’s happening in Denver this week. The Texans are in town just days after Demaryius Thomas was dealt to Houston, which led to this:
The Broncos rolled out a massive banner thanking Demaryius Thomas after trading him
This is so great.

Thomas spent eight years in Denver. He had over 9,000 receiving yards with the Broncos. He caught 60 touchdowns, and experienced the ups of a Super Bowl, and now the downs of a team still reloading following Peyton Manning’s retirement. Upon leaving he posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram page thanking the city and the fans for their time together.
“To Bronco Nation:
I will forever be grateful for my time in Denver & for playing a part in bringing a Super Bowl trophy to the Mile High City!
Thank you to my teammates, coaches, & the entire Broncos organization for inspiring me every single day I came in to the building, and to the fans that loved me through it all, I love y’all.
On to the next chapter!”
It’s really great to see the Broncos return the favor and honor a player whose career in Denver was so quietly prolific than he ranks third in team history in receptions behind legends Shannon Sharpe and Rod Smith. This is all just great.
