There’s a new No. 1 in college basketball as the Kansas Jayhawks return to the top spot after pulling out a win over New Mexico State. This is the second time the Jayhawks have been No. 1 as Bill Self’s squad was the preseason favorite. Gonzaga dropped to No. 4 after losing to now-No. 3 Tennessee, 76-73, in the marquee game of a wild week of action.

Duke moved up one spot to No. 2, while 10-0 Michigan stayed steady at No. 5. Virginia dropped two spots to No. 6 despite winning two games this week and maintaining an unblemished record. Nevada, Auburn, and Michigan State round out the top 10.

Buffalo, undefeated at 9-0, came in at No. 14 this week, up three spots from last week.

Kentucky dropped nine spots in the poll to No. 19 after losing to Seton Hall in overtime, and Kansas State, Maryland, and Nebraska all fell out of the rankings this week. Marquette —which upset Wisconsin — entered the polls at No. 21. Undefeated Houston came in at No. 24, and Syracuse re-joined the rankings at No. 25 after taking down Georgetown by one point at the Carrier Dome.

The Orange joining the rankings put the ACC back in control with six ranked teams joining Duke (No. 2), Virginia (No. 6), Florida State (No. 10), North Carolina (No. 12), and Virginia Tech (No. 13). The Big Ten and SEC came in with five teams, while Arizona State remains the lone representative of the Pac-12.
