Team USA’s women’s alpine skiing team has a chance to dominate.

Four years ago, American Mikaela Shiffrin took home the Olympic slalom championship at 18 years old — making her the youngest slalom champion ever. She is one of the favorites to capture a gold medal in the slalom discipline. In fact, fellow American Lindsey Vonn took home a gold medal and bronze medal at the event in her career. She also won four World Cup races.
Team USA’s women’s Alpine skiing team should dominate this discipline, especially since Slovenia’s Tina Maze — who won two gold medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics — retired in 2017. There is a wide-open competition to take home gold medals, and America has to capitalize on it.
