During his second Winter Olympics run in men’s snowboard halfpipe competition Tuesday Yuto Totsuka suffered a bad fall that required he be stretchered off the hill. The 16-year-old from Japan landed hard on the halfpipe lip on his first jump, appearing to injure his hip before he tumbled approximately 20 feet further down the pipe.
Olympics 2018: Japanese snowboarder Yuto Totsuka stretchered off after halfpipe fall
The Japanese 16-year-old landed hard on the halfpipe lip.

He was conscious and able to sit up before being assisted into a sled to be stretchered to medical assistance.
It’s too early to know the full extent of the injuries, but Japan’s press officer told USA Today’s Rachel Axon that Totsuka had “no big injury but pain in his hip” as he was taken to a hospital.
Totsuka qualified 10th after competition Monday, and finished third in the U.S. Grand Prix at Snowmass in January.
No further information is available about Totsuka’s condition but this post will be updated when more is known.
