Hello, Olympics friends! Welcome the Mikaela Shiffrin portion of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Olympic Cheat Sheet: Welcome to the Mikaela Shiffrin Show
Here’s what you missed last night in Pyeongchang and what you should watch out for on Thursday.

The winds in Pyeongchang finally subsided enough for the 22-year-old American alpine skiing star to make her first runs of the games. And, yeah, they went well. Shiffrin won gold in the women’s giant slalom.
How can I watch Mikaela tonight?
Shiffrin will be back on the slopes tonight in the women’s slalom.
Run 1, Time 8 p.m. ET, live stream
Run 2, Time 11:45 p.m. ET, live stream
Who is leading the overall medal count?
Norway briefly separated itself from the crowd again, but Germany is close behind. Behind that tandem, Canada and the Netherlands are tangling for third place. The United States is lurking just off the overall medal count podium. But the gap isn’t anything Shiffrin can’t handle.
You know what they say? Pyeongchang is really a hockey town.
- The U.S. women’s hockey team fell to rival Canada, 2-1, in a preliminary game. Both teams had already clinched spots in the semifinals so stay tuned for yet another high-stakes clash.
- The U.S. men’s hockey team started brightly against Slovenia, skating out to a 2-0 lead in its first game of the Olympics. But the Americans could not put together three solid periods, and eventually lost in overtime, 3-2.
Who are our new favorites?
- America’s figure skating Shibutani siblings continue to be a treasure.
- Ghanaian skeleton slider Akwasi Frimpong has a helmet that has a lion depicted on it. There is a rabbit escaping the jaws of the lion depicted on the helmet. Got it? It is glorious.
- And, John Daly, we support you. Trust us.
