It’s going to be a busy Friday of ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics with five different games on the schedule. The big matchup will be the women’s quarterfinal game between Switzerland and Olympic Athletes from Russia that begins at 10:10 p.m. ET in Pyeongchang.

The winner of that game will advance to the semifinals to face Canada, which earned a bye by going unbeaten in the group stage. Canada has won the last four Olympic gold medals in women’s hockey and beat Team USA, 2-1, in the group stage this week, so it’ll be heavily favored regardless of whether Switzerland or OAR wins.
The rest of the schedule turns to the men’s tournament, which has four games spread between the morning and night. Team USA is off after facing Slovakia on Thursday night, but it’ll be back on the ice Saturday morning to face the Ilya Kovalchuk-led Russian men’s team.
But first, the Russians will face Slovenia, the team that beat the Americans in their first game, at 2:40 a.m. ET. That game will be broadcast live on NBCSN in addition to live-streaming coverage.
The other notable game Friday comes at night as Canada faces the Czech Republic. Both of those teams won their debut games in Pyeongchang, but the former had a much easier time in its 5-1 win over Switzerland. The Czechs, on the other hand, only won by a goal over hosting South Korea, which probably isn’t a great sign of their chances against a much better Canadian team.
Former NHL players Rene Bourque and Wojtek Wolski each scored two goals apiece in the win over the Swiss. Derek Roy, who once recorded 81 points in 78 games in a season for the Buffalo Sabres, added three assists.
