Devin Booker set an NBA three-point contest record with 28 points in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Devin Booker’s 28 points is a new 3-point contest record ... kinda
Craig Hodges and Jason Kapono would like a word.

Booker hit 20 out of his 30 shot attempts, while knocking down four of the five shots on his money ball rack. On his other four racks, he hit each money ball — it was quite the performance.
Here’s what his shooting looked like:
It’s the highest score, but there have been more impressive runs.
The highest point total for the 3-point competition was 30 until 2014, when a rack consisting of nothing but money balls increased the perfect score to 34.
The two performances that were statistically better than Booker’s belong to Jason Kapono and Craig Hodges, who both had 25 points out of a possible 30 (83.3 percent). Hodges’ came in 1986, and Kapono’s in 2008.
That’s slightly better than Booker’s 82.4 percent, but both are incredible performances without question.
The three-point contest was a dud until that moment, and even Klay Thompson came close with 25 points in the final round.
That’s Booker’s first three-point comeptition championship, and there’s a good chance it won’t be his last.
