Good morning, Olympics pals.
Olympics cheat sheet: Mom and dad, we’re sorry we’re not the Shibs Sibs
Here’s what you missed last night in Pyeongchang and what you should watch out for on Tuesday.

Before we dive into everything that happened last night at the 2018 Winter Olympics, I just want to take a moment to apologize to my parents on behalf of myself, my two brothers, and my sister.
We’re all very sorry that we’re not the Shibutani siblings.
We’re doing the best we can, of course. But Alex and Maia are out there winning bronze medals in ice dance, together.
Who is leading the medal count?
Some things stay the same: Norway is on top in the overall medal count. Also the same: Germany is right there with the Norwegians in the gold medal tally. Canada remains solidly in third place in the overall tally. The United States has dropped out of the top five spots, but picked up two more medals — both bronze — thanks to the #ShibSibs and freestyle skier Brita Sigourney.
Who are our new favorites?
- While the U.S. women’s hockey team preps for a gold-medal grudge match with rival Canada, the U.S. men’s team is just trying to survive. Thanks in part to Ryan Donato, they’ll be back for another game.
- Brita Sigourney knocked her U.S. freestyle skier teammate Annalisa Drew out of podium position to grab a bronze medal in the women’s freestyle skiing halfpipe. Then they hugged.
- Canada’s Tesse Virtue and Scott Moir dropped a gold-medal performance in ice dance that is worth another watch:
What are we going to watch next?
What else to watch for?
- According to The New York Times, Brooklyn Nets owner and Russian oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov is “helping to finance an attempt to attack the credibility of the whistle-blower who exposed the country’s elaborate doping program.”
- Also, it’s DOPING SZN.
- Lindsey Vonn is playing “mind games” ahead of the downhill final.
- But that wind is still a problem on the mountain.
