Another championship game between Canada and the United States, another classic. ... took the gold medal with a 3-2 shootout win on Thursday morning at Pyeonchang, South Korea, with Jocelyn Lamoureux scoring the game-winner.

After 80 minutes and four periods couldn’t decide things, this one went to the shootout, where the U.S. got goals from Gigi Marvin and Amanda Kessel, and Canada got goals from Meghan Agosta and Melodie Daoust in the initial five rounds.
Lamoureux’s goal came in the sixth round of the shootout and featured a double fake to beat Canadian goalie Shannon Szabados. Canada had a chance to extend the shootout with Agosta, but Maddie Rooney made the stop to secure the win for Team USA.
The win gave the United States its first women’s hockey gold medal for the first time since 1998, snapping a string of four consecutive Winter Olympics title by Canada.
