Darrelle Revis is back on the market after the Kansas City Chiefs cut ties with him, the team announced Thursday.
The Chiefs released Darrelle Revis. Is this the end of his career?
Is this the end of the road for one of the best cornerbacks of the last decade?

Revis, 32, played just five regular season games with the Chiefs after signing a two-year contract in November, but it’s unsurprising that he won’t see year two of that deal. The team wouldn’t have been able to part with his $4.5 million salary cap hit had he been on the roster on March 18. At that point, his $1.015 million base salary would’ve been guaranteed.
It wasn’t a tough decision considering Revis mostly struggled during his brief time with the team.
What does this mean for Revis? It could mean the end of the road for one of the best cornerbacks of his era. Over an eight-year span in the last decade, Revis made the Pro Bowl seven times, but he has struggled to find work recently and things won’t get any easier.
Revis likely will keep his eye out for another opportunity, though.
“The material I put on [videotape] from the little time I had, not going through training camp and being here for the installs, I was OK,” Revis said, via ESPN. “I wasn’t great or my best ever. No way. But at the same time, for what I came in here and was asked to do, for the most part I’m happy with it.”
What does this mean for the Chiefs? Kansas City helped its cap space situation by dealing Alex Smith to Washington, but clearing another $4.5 million was an easy choice.
The Chiefs will still likely be on the hunt for a cornerback to place in the lineup opposite Marcus Peters, but the addition of Kendall Fuller in that Smith trade also means the secondary for Kansas City is headed in the right direction.
