Jimmy Garoppolo is living the best NFL life

With just seven starts, Jimmy Garoppolo has had the perfect start to an NFL career.

Jimmy Garoppolo started seven games in his first four years in the NFL. He has 12 career touchdown passes. He also has two Super Bowl rings and a brand new contract that will make him the highest-paid player in the NFL when it becomes official.

His five-year, $137.5 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers averages out to a record-breaking $27.5 million per year. That’s $19.6 million per start so far in his career and $11.46 million per touchdown pass.

Of course, the 49ers are paying him for what they believe he’ll do in the future. But for now, Garoppolo has lived one hell of a charmed NFL life:

It’s basically the perfect start to an NFL career.

Players have about four or five years to prove they’re worth an extension, but Garoppolo got to spend most of those seasons behind Tom Brady and reaped the rewards in experience and Super Bowl rings. Then, when he finally got his chance to play, he thrived and put together a perfect 7-0 record as a starter — with five of those wins with the 49ers.

Nobody is going to go undefeated forever, but Garoppolo got to cash in while things were just right.

It’s the type of career you’d wish for from a genie.

Hmm...
