Nevada and NC State both got the Wolfpack/Wolf Pack moniker (it’s two words for Nevada) in the early 1920s, but for very different reasons. For Nevada, a local newspaper writer thought the team played with the tenacity of a pack of wolves. That’s good! For NC State, however, an anonymous alumnus thought the players were being unruly like a pack of wolves. That’s bad, but the school paper went with it anyways.
