It’s March, anything can happen. But no one expected this.
Buffalo blows out Arizona in biggest early upset of 2018 NCAA tournament

No. 4 seed Arizona lost to No. 13 seed Buffalo in arguably the biggest upset of the tournament so far.
The Wildcats dropped an 89-68 loss to the Bulls, and really didn’t have an answer for the MAC champions the entire game. Buffalo shot just over 54% from the field and put on an even more impressive performance from beyond the arc, hitting 13 threes on 30 attempts. Wes Clark and Jeremy Harris, who’ve been two of the Bulls’ leading scorers all season, led the way with 25 and 23 points, respectively.
The Wildcats shot 45.3% from the field and an abysmal 11.1% from three. Standout big man Deandre Ayton had 14 points and most of the team’s rebounds with 13. An impressive stat line, but in the end not enough.
This first round loss just adds to the load the Wildcats have had to carry all season. They were caught up in the FBI’s NCAA investigation and their personnel for next year is uncertain. Ayton is likely going to enter the draft and who knows which players will stick around for another year.
As for Buffalo, they’ll be moving on to the next round to face No. 5 Kentucky on Saturday.
