Carmelo Anthony provided transportation for 4,500 kids to attend the March For Our Lives

Way to go, Melo!

On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people rallied across the country for the March for Our Lives protest. The event came in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting in order to bring awareness to school shootings and gun violence and to call on elected officials to make reforms on gun laws.

March For Our Lives has gotten support from celebrities and athletes such as Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dwyane Wade and NBA legend Bill Russell.

Carmelo Anthony wasn’t able to attend, but he was able to contribute in a special way by bussing 4,500 kids from Baltimore to Washington D.C. so they could participate.

Anthony is no stranger to activism, especially in Baltimore where he was raised. In 2015, he joined the Baltimore protests of Freddie Gray’s murder, and he goes home often to give back to the community. Anthony being able to send buses for kids and realizing the impact of the youth is inspirational and powerful.

And judging by the sound of it, Melo isn’t going to stop giving back and being active anytime soon. Saying “It’s something that should come natural, so I think I’ll always be part of... or active when it comes to activism and speaking up.”

It’s always heartwarming to see athletes and people doing good deeds for their communities.
