Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane and safety Kam Chancellor shared vague social media posts on Wednesday that seemed to hint that Richard Sherman may be on his way out of Seattle.
No one knows what’s going on with Richard Sherman and the Seahawks
Sherman may be on his way out of Seattle, but it’s not confirmed.

Sherman tore his Achilles last season, and he recently had an additional offseason surgery to address the issue. The team shopped Sherman last year and the idea of trading him or otherwise moving on from Sherman has been on the table as they look to revamp that side of the ball this offseason.
But Sherman has been one of the league’s best corners. These posts set off a storm of speculation about Sherman’s future. Let’s analyze the situation.
What did Lane and Chancellor say?
Lane referenced No. 25, which is Sherman’s number.
Chancellor mentioned Sherman directly in an Instagram post.
Cliff Avril joined the fray ... unless he was referencing the Seahawks’ decision to trade Michael Bennett to the Eagles, which also broke on Wednesday.
Mike Davis is as confused as the rest of us.
These posts aren’t specific enough to draw a real conclusion about Sherman’s future with the Seahawks. But Sherman’s mom posted something on Facebook that does make it sound like her son’s time in Seattle is coming to an end.
What has the team said?
Not much, actually.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that there is a meeting between Sherman and the team on the horizon.
Sherman will have to have that conversation via phone, it sounds like.
What’s the media saying?
They don’t seem to have have any specific information, either. But Ian Rapoport did mention restructuring Sherman as another option for Seattle.

NFL Network’s Mike Silver also said Sherman’s release is inevitable, but may not be the end of the road:
ESPN’s Josina Anderson heard directly from Sherman, who indicated he didn’t know what his teammates were doing.
Sherman told The MMQB’s Albert Breer that there’s “nothing to report.”

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times published a report indicating that Sherman would be released from the team as early as Friday:
The Seahawks have explored trade options for Sherman, but nothing materialized, leaving them poised instead to release Sherman on Friday ahead of the beginning of the new league year Wednesday.
It won’t be a surprise if the Seahawks do move on from Sherman. They did shop him last offseason. Sherman is 29, and he’s set to carry a $13.2 million cap hit this year. The Seahawks would absorb just $2.2 million in dead cap if they cut him. A trade is still a possibility, depending on how healthy he is after this offseason surgery.
