The San Antonio Spurs are heading to the NBA playoffs for a 21st straight season, after defeating the Sacramento Kings, 98-85, on Monday.

Coming into Monday night, the Western Conference playoff race was extremely tight, as the No. 3 and No. 9 seeds are only separated by two games.

However, the Spurs’ scenario to clinch a playoff spot was simple: win and they were in. If they did not win, San Antonio needed a loss from either the Denver Nuggets or Minnesota Timberwolves.

Nevertheless, that did not happen as both teams secured victories on Monday night, setting up a colossal matchup on Wednesday.

Aforementioned, it would not be easy for the Spurs to clinch as the young Sacramento Kings gave them everything they could handle in the first half. But the Spurs’ play improved in the second half, thanks to fantastic performances from LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay, Manu Ginobili, and Bryn Forbes.

Ginobili helped set the tone for the Spurs late in the fourth quarter as he threw down one of his old-man dunks.

With San Antonio making the playoffs for another season, despite not having their two-way superstar in Kawhi Leonard, just shows how impressive of an organization they are.

Now San Antonio has one more game on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans to figure out where they will be seeded in the Western Conference playoffs.

The NBA playoffs are set to tip-off this weekend, but there is still a lot to settle in terms of seeding in both the Eastern and Western conference.
